Essential Steps for a Seamless Pool Opening

Avoid a summer filled with headaches by opening your pool the right way. With a well-ordered system, you can prevent future problems and lay the groundwork for a pool care plan that’s simple to maintain.

1. Remove and Clean the Pool Cover:  Our technicians will sweep off debris from the cover and deodorize it to prevent sticking and odors. They will store the cover in a dry, debris-free place poolside. In the event of excessive water collection on the cover, our technicians can drain the water at an additional cost.

2. Inspect Pool Water Level: The ideal water level for optimal circulation is the middle of the skimmer opening. We will inspect your water level then attempt to fill or recommend you fill if its significantly  below the appropriate level.

3. Inspect Equipment: Check the pump, skimmer basket, and filter. Start the circulation system if the water level is adequate. If necessary, we can perform a filter cleaning (sand, D.E., or cartridge) for an additional cost.

4. Water Testing: After the opening, we recommend customers circulate water for 24-48 hours before taking a sample. Use a clean plastic container to scoop a pint of water from elbow-depth, away from skimmers and returns. Bring the sample to our SmartLab for testing and receive personalized startup instructions.

5. Test Sanitizer and pH Levels: Customers should check their water condition weekly with test strips or in our Smartlab to ensure the water is well balanced and safe.

6. Routine Maintenance: Follow a regular maintenance plan for your pool care system. We can assist in creating a customized maintenance schedule.
